Report: Four pet chickens stolen from home

You know the old joke “why did the chicken cross the road?”-- Well, maybe he was trying to escape the claws of the chicken thief.

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the theft of four pet chickens and asking for the community’s assistance in locating them.

According to the incident report, on Friday deputies were dispatched to a home on Silver Oak Lane in reference to a larceny.

Upon arrival, officers met with the complainant who stated four chickens that his children keep as pets were stolen.

The South Carolina State Museum science staff and the Midlands Astronomy Club will start the new year with a new location for the popular “Planets for the People” sidewalk telescope viewing series.  The family stargazing event will take place Saturday, Jan. 19 from 6-10 p.m. at Parkland Plaza in Cayce.

                “If it’s clear, we should have a good view of the moon and the planet Jupiter,” said Tom Falvey, State Museum director of education.
