Come out to the Benedict vs. Bowie State Football Game on Thursday, September 6. If you bring FOUR non-perishable food items to the game you can receive a $5.00 admission ticket.

The home opener at Charlie W. Johnson Stadium will start at 8 p.m., but come out early at 6 p.m. for some pre-game festivities.

They will have a BC Idol Talent show (open to the public), FREE hotdogs, Pepsi, chips, and T-Shirts to the first 500. Tons of on-field contests -- cash prizes of $1,000.00, and $50,000.00, and a weekend getaway at the Doubletree by Hilton, and more!

LCSD to host $1.00 book sale for United Way

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is having a massive book sale August 24 - 25 at the James R. Metts Law Enforcement Complex to support the United Way.

More than a thousand of books will be on sale for $1 each.

The book sale ends at 5 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday.

GHS FFA wins top award at FFA camp

Gilbert High Future Farmers of America (FFA) members won a Top Chapter Award at the South Carolina FFA Leadership Camp.

During the week-long camp, chapters compete for the award. The group with the best scores in events including FFA Olympics, Counselor Votes, Chapter Skits and Trivia Competition win the title of Top Chapter.

GHS Chapter President Caleb Taylor received the Outstanding Camper award for the GHS group based on his enthusiasm, sportsmanship, teamwork and behavior.

Richland County along with the City of Columbia and Lexington County are currently promoting the up-coming Summer Celebration of Water taking place at Riverfront Park on August, 25th.

The free event is an opportunity for citizens to learn more about clean water initiatives, and have some fun with friends and family.

Sign-Up For The Splash And Dash Adventure Race on August 25th

Are you ready for an adventure?  On Saturday, August 25, The Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission is hosting the third annual Splash and Dash Adventure Race at 8:30 a.m. at Saluda Shoals Park.

This fun-filled amateur athletic team challenge combines mountain biking, trail running on varied terrain and paddling on the Saluda River which is perfect for any skill level.  Teams must complete each section of the course and finish the race together in the fastest time to win.
