Pelion High School Lady Panthers Finish Second In The 2012 Hawk Invitational

The Pelion High School Lady Panthers finished second in the 2012 Hawk Invitational at Blackville-Hilda High School in December 2012. The team advanced to the championship game after beating Blackville-Hilda High and Williston-Elko High. They played a close game against Ridge Spring Monetta High in the final game of the tournament.

 Additionally, Jessica Williamson and Delerisha Phillips were named to the 2012 Hawk Invitational All-Tournament Team.

The first season has come to an end for Columbia’s Famously Hot, Surprising Cool new outdoor ice skating rink, Main Street Ice. Crews began dismantling the ice skating rink this morning and will be clearing Boyd Plaza over the next few days.  

City Parks and Recreation officials are reporting that just over fourteen hundred skaters visited the rink over the last two weeks, bringing the attendance total for the entire season to over fifteen thousand.

Lexington One announces RBHS AD/head football coach

— During the December 18, 2012 meeting of the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees, the board approved the hire of David Bennett for the position of athletic director and head football coach at River Bluff High School. River Bluff High School, currently under construction on Corley Mill Road in Lexington, South Carolina, opens for the 2013–2014 academic year.

 

David Bennett currently serves as athletic director and guidance counselor at Horry County Schools’ Socastee High School in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Pelion High School band student to participate in Artist Competition

Otto Hage, PHS Band Director (left) and Clark Cooper, PHS Principal (right) congratulate Zachary O’Neill, Pelion High School band student, who will compete in the South Carolina Band Director’s Association’s Young Artist Competition on February 7, 2013, in Charleston, S.C.

The association picked O’Neill for the competition along with 19 other band students from across the state.

Infiniti announced that it will once again partner with the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), the NCAA® and ESPN as the sponsor of the "Infiniti Coaches' Charity Challenge." Now in its third year, Infiniti, an official corporate partner of the NCAA, will make a $100,000 donation to the winning coach's designated charity.

Lexington County School District One Superintendent Karen Woodward and White Knoll High Assistant Volleyball Coach Erica Gambrell congratulate Solia Niutupuivaha for being selected to play in the All-Star Volleyball Tournament.

 

The South Carolina Coaches Association for Women’s Sports selected Niutupuivaha for the tournament where she played on the 3A/4A All-Star South team.
