Introducing Curvy Yoga…Come Out and Try It May 19th!

 

Introducing Yoga for all body types, Curvy Yoga is designed to promote a positive self body image.  Curvy Yoga isn’t really about losing weight, but more about body acceptance.

The workshop will be held on May 19th at the Pink Lotus Yoga Center in Lexington from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The event will be taught by Alma Dunnavant, RYT and is Curvy Yoga Certified. The Pink Lotus Yoga Center is located at 711 E. Main Street, Suite #2 in Lexington.

At the April 23, 2013 special called board meeting of the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees, the board approved the administration’s recommendation to hire Joshua T. Stepp as athletic director and varsity head football coach for Lexington High School for the 2013–2014 school year.

— At the April 9, 2013 special called board meeting of the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees, the board approved the administration’s recommendation to hire Anthony Dean Howell as athletic director and varsity head football coach for White Knoll High School for the 2013–2014 school year.

 

Howell, who has 17 years of coaching experience, currently serves as head football coach at A.C. Flora High School in Richland One. He replaces Gordon Walters who recently announced that he has accepted a position at Waccamaw High School on Pawleys Island.

SCE&G’s public parks on Lake Murray open for the season

SCE&G’s public parks on the Lexington and Irmo sides of the dam at Lake Murray are now open for the 2013 season.

 

The boat-launching park on the Irmo side will remain open through Labor Day. The beach/recreation area on the Lexington side will remain open through Sept. 13. 

 

Operating hours will be Monday-Friday from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. until May 4, after which the park will stay open until 8 p.m. Weekend and holiday hours are from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Frank and Anya Martin To Host Inaugural Coaches Versus Cancer Benefit

 

University of South Carolina head men's basketball coach Frank Martin and his wife Anya, are set to host their inaugural "Coaches vs. Cancer" benefit, the "B-Ball of the South," on Friday, May 3, 2013, at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia. Proceeds from the event will go to "Coaches vs. Cancer," a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). Several celebrity coaches are slated to attend to support the cause.

Aiken City Council Honors Pacers Basketball Team at Council Meeting

 

The Aiken City Council will be honoring the Pacer’s Men’s Basketball Team for winning the Southeast Regional Tournament for Division II and USC Aiken’s first visit to the Elite Eight in men’s basketball.  This will take place at the City Council meeting on Monday, March 25th at 7:00pm at the city Municipal Building at 214 Park Avenue SW in downtown Aiken.

Dyer and Kalec Named 2013 Gilbert High School Academic Athletes

 

Each year, the Gilbert Community Club honors two Gilbert High School Academic Athletes, a male and female senior, who have lettered in two sports and maintained the highest academic average.  This year’s Academic Athletes are seniors Chris Dyer (football and baseball) and Lexi Kalec (cross country and tennis).  Chris and Lexi were presented with plaques at the recent Gilbert Community Club meeting.
