WKHS teacher receives award from VFW

 

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 8738 names White Knoll High teacher,1st Sgt. David Pelley, VFW High School Teacher of the Year.

 

Pelley was also named Patriot of the Year by the Lexington Knights of Columbus. 

PHMS teacher wins Citizenship Education Teacher of the Year

PHMS teacher wins Citizenship Education Teacher of the Year

 

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) selected Pleasant Hill Middle Teacher Steven Woodyard as the 2012 VFW South Carolina Citizenship Education Teacher of the Year.

 

VFW Post 8738 in Lexington nominated Woodyard for the state award. He will represent South Carolina in the National Citizenship Education Teacher Award competition in March.

Historic Columbia Foundation’s “Second Sunday Strolls” monthly walking tours will continue on Sunday, September 9th. The tour will take place at 2 pm. in Columbia’s Robert Mills District West. The tour will meet at the Mann-Simons Site which is located at 1403 Richland Street in Columbia.

Columbia’s Robert Mills District West is named after the nation’s first federal architect who designed the circa-1823 Robert Mills House and the circa-1828 Asylum.

Come Out And Enjoy FREE Boiled Peanuts On August 25th

Come out on Saturday, August 25 for FREE boiled peanuts at Boiled Peanut Day. The South Carolina Peanut Board in cooperation with the SC Department of Agriculture is hosting the event which will take place at the State Farmers Market at 3483 Charleston Hwy in West Columbia.

The free treat is being offered as part of the celebrations for Farmers Market Month in South Carolina and the 5th anniversary of the Certified South Carolina Grown Summer Celebrations. The boiled peanut give‐away will take place between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
