Lexington County Public Safety Citizens Academy Holds Graduation

 

On Tuesday, May 21st, 18 citizens graduated from the Lexington County Public Safety Citizens Academy. Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said the following 18 citizens graduated from the 12-week Public Safety Citizens Academy:

v  Drew Anderson, of West Columbia

v  Coley Andrews, of Lexington

v  Robert Bart, of Lexington

v  Janis Bennett, of Irmo

“Being named Social Worker of the Year has been a humbling experience because there are so many great social workers,” Cheryl Cooley said. “There’s a popular saying that you’re only as great as the people you surround yourself with. And I can definitely say that about the social workers and staff I work with at District Five. There’s really none better.”

At the Tuesday, May 7, 2013, special board meeting of the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees, a budget workshop, the board approved the administration’s recommendation to hire W. Bryan Hearn as director of the Lexington Technology Center for the 2013–2014 school year.

Oak Grove Elementary School Raises More Than $2,700 For Relay For Life

 

Oak Grove Elementary School held a rock concert that raised more than $2,700 for Relay For Life.

 OGES Principal Sherry Cariens along with other faculty, staff and students dressed up and sang for the rock concert, which is an annual event at the school. In addition to dressing up and singing, the day also included a butterfly release, a mini relay and dinner and games.
