Six Lexington-Richland District Five Students Win National Merit Scholarships

Lexington-Richland School District Five has six students who have been named winners of National Merit Scholarships. District Five was the only district in South Carolina to have a student from each of its public high schools named to the list.

On Saturday, June 1 a car and motorcycle show will be conducted between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at 1765-A Augusta Highway, Lexington, to raise money to buy equipment for the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) that the Sheriff’s Department has difficulty acquiring through the governmental budget process.

The Lexington Elementary School Run Hard Team trained this spring for the Run Hard 5K race held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 in the Town of Lexington. They worked as a team, encouraging and challenging each other during their training sessions held twice a week for eight weeks.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - The United Way wants to say "thank you" to state workers in South Carolina with a food truck rodeo. Organizers say the Wurst Wagen and trucks from Pawleys Mobile Eats and 2Fat2Fly are expected to be at the Statehouse on Friday. State employees can get $5 coupons for lunch and dessert. South Congaree mayor 4th town official to resign in 1 week

SOUTH CONGAREE, SC (WIS)- Saying the political process failed to work, the mayor of South Congaree has resigned.

Mayor Jerry McCormick submitted his resignation letter to town council members effective immediately. He presented his resignation at a special executive meeting Thursday night intended to begin the search for a new town administrator and police chief.
