The Palmetto Chapter of JDRF presented the team with awards for raising the most money and having the best t-shirt design in the school division. The team received the awards during the chapter’s awards banquet on Jan. 15, 2013.
Leading up to the Walk for a Cure held on Nov. 4, 2012, the team raised money for the charity thanks to the support of several LHS teams and clubs including the baseball, cheerleading, football, volleyball and wrestling teams and the Key Club. More than 100 people participated in the walk as part of the Wildcats Walk for a Cure team.
JDRF is the leading charitable funder and advocate of Type 1 diabetes research worldwide. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.
