Being ahead of the game is the best way to protect your family from fire. With nearly 5,000 home fires reported in South Carolina in 2010, your best defense is a good offense.

That’s why South Carolina is joining with the National Fire Protection Association during the month of October to let citizens know: “It’s Fire Prevention Month. Protect Your Family From Fire!” This year’s campaign focuses on preventing the leading causes of home fires - cooking, heating and electrical equipment, candles and smoking materials.

On Wednesday, the South Carolina Department of Agriculture officially announced that Nora Kravec from Johns Island, S.C., has been selected as the grand‐prize winner of the “Lee Brother Your Supper” contest.

As the lucky winner, she will have a Certified SC meal prepared for her entire supper club in person by South Carolina natives, celebrity chefs and best‐selling cookbook authors, Matt Lee and Ted Lee, the Lee Bros.

During the six‐week long promotion, more than 1,000 South Carolinians registered their supper clubs for a chance to win the grand‐prize at www.leebrotheryoursupper.com.

In addition to the grand‐prize winner, 30 others from across the state were awarded weekly prizes including t‐shirts and copies of the Lee Bros. award‐winning cookbooks.
