Tour Columbia Canal Drinking Water Plant and Metro Wastewater Treatment Plant

The City of Columbia will be giving a tour of its Columbia Canal Drinking Water Plant and Metro Wastewater Treatment Plant on Friday, March 22 from 1:30 to 5:00 PM. Guests will see how the City's drinking water is made from one of its sources on the Broad River and where it ultimately goes into the Congaree River after being treated at the wastewater treatment plant.

Rising high school juniors and seniors interested in attending this year's South Carolina Commissioner's School for Agriculture (SCCSA), held at Clemson University, can go online now to download their application. The application needs to be postmarked by Tuesday, April 16.

 

Students selected for the program will spend the week of July 20 -26 looking into careers related to agriculture, forestry, wildlife management, and natural resources.

PHMS teacher wins Citizenship Education Teacher of the Year

 

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) selected Pleasant Hill Middle Teacher Steven Woodyard as the 2012 VFW South Carolina Citizenship Education Teacher of the Year.

 

VFW Post 8738 in Lexington nominated Woodyard for the state award. He will represent South Carolina in the National Citizenship Education Teacher Award competition in March.
