Report: Man dies after being shot in head | Crime
The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an early morning shooting that left one man dead after being shot in the head.
The report said at about 4:22 a.m. on Monday, officers responded to a shooting incident that occurred outside a home on Kings Wallow near Leesville.
Upon arrival, officers located the victim on the ground covered in blood from his head to waist, and moaning.
According to the report, the shooter was also on the scene when deputies arrived.
Deputies said the shooter advised them that he had put the gun on the porch, and he would do what he was told. The shooter was taking in for questioning.
The 34-year-old victim, Christopher Rogers suffered a life-threatening gunshot wound to his head and was taken to Palmetto Health Richland Hospital where he died Tuesday morning.
Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the shooting. Detectives have not yet determined whether criminal charges will be filed against the shooter.
