Report: Employee confronts shoplifter; suspect runs out front door with steaks | Crime
The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is searching for a shoplifting suspect.
The report said officers responded to the Food Lion located on Sunset Boulevard in reference to a shoplifting on Friday.
When deputies arrived to the store, an employee advised them that he witnessed a suspect remove steaks from the meat freezer and conceal them inside of his jacket, the report stated.
The employee explained to officers when he confronted the shoplifter, the suspect ran out the front door without paying for the meat.
According to Sheriff James Metts, the suspect fled the scene in a black Jeep Cherokee, heading towards I-26.
The report said the suspect is described as a white male with a beard or goatee, last seen wearing a black bandanna on his head, black jacket with a gray stripe across the front chest and shoulder area, black shirt, blue jeans and brown boots. The suspect was approximately 5’11, 200-220lbs. and 35-40 years old.
