Authorities: Attempted murder suspect turns himself in | Crime
A man wanted for attempted murder surrendered to authorities, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety.
Police said Devontay Kaseem Gordon, who was wanted for the attempted murder of 35-year-old Anthony Oakman, turned himself in to authorities at the Aiken County Detention Center late Monday morning.
Police already arrested Latoya Denise Edwards and charged her with the attempted murder of Oakman in relation to a shooting incident which took place on near Mr. Oakman’s residence.
According to the report, on February 6 at 10:35 p.m., Aiken Public Safety received a call of shots being fired on the 1600 block of Colleton Ave.
While en route, responding officers received additional calls which stated Oakman was injured and down in front of Colleton Court Apartments.
Upon officers arrival, it was determined that Oakman suffered from multiple gunshot wounds, the report stated.
Mr. Oakman was transported to the hospital. His current medical status is unknown.
Public Safety Detectives are actively investigating the incident and additional arrests may be made.
