Report: Store clerk catches man trying to use fake $20 bill | Crime
One man thought he could outsmart an alert store clerk by trying to pass off a bogus $20 bill, deputies say.
According to a Lexington County Sheriff’s Department incident report, on Saturday, an unknown male suspect entered the Lil Cricket Gas Station located in the Town of Swansea and attempted to make a purchase using counterfeit money.
Deputies say the clerk quickly recognized the cash was fake and contacted law enforcement.
Before doing so, the clerk was able to get the fake bill back from the suspect before he pulled off in his late 90’s model Chevy Blazer, the report stated.
Deputies say the suspect is described as a white male between 20-30 years old, 5’08 – 5’11, wearing a camo jacket, white shirt, blue jeans and a hat.
