Report: Man slashes mattress, threatens victim over woman | Crime
A Winnsboro man was arrested on a charge of malicious injury to personal property.
According to a Lexington County Sheriff’s Department incident report, deputies arrested 51-year-old Jeffrey Warren after officers say he slashed a man’s king size mattress valued at $500.
On Nov. 28, officers responded to Pond Branch Road in reference to an active civil disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers met with the victim who was standing in the front yard of the residence grossly intoxicated, the report stated.
The victim told deputies that Warren came to his home angry over a woman both men were involved with.
The victim said that Warren threatened to physically harm him saying “I will gut you and pull your eyes out through where I gutted you,” the report stated.
According to sheriff’s deputies, the victim escaped the residence as his son called the police.
The report said while the victim waited for officers to arrive, he could see Warren inside the home beating on the floor with a hatchet.
When officers approached the front door, they could see Warren in the victim’s bedroom slashing his bed causing damage to the mattress, the report stated.
Deputies say when they opened the door and identified themselves, Warren dropped whatever tool he had in his hand and came outside.
Warren was bleeding from several wounds to his hands and arms, the report stated.
Warren was arrested and transported by ambulance to Lexington Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries, deputies say.
Once released, Warren was transported to Lexington County Detention Center.
