Deputies: Man arrested after stealing scuba gear, 6-foot ladder | Crime

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested a Gilbert man on Saturday, December 1 on charges of second-degree burglary, petit larceny and possessing tools that are capable of being used to commit a crime.

Deputies say 29-year-old Johnny Paul Hill, II broke into a home on A.C. Bouknight Road near Gilbert at about 8 a.m. on Saturday and stole one drum set stand, scuba gear and tools from the residence.

An arrest warrant alleges that Hill broke into the home on A.C. Bouknight Road and stole one Gibraltar Power Rack drum set stand worth $1,000 and one black-and-yellow storage box that contained scuba gear and tools worth a combined total of $400, the report stated.

In addition, an arrest warrant alleges that Hill also entered the shed, which had been left unlocked, at the rear of the home on A.C. Bouknight Road and stole one 6-foot wooden ladder worth about $400.

Deputies say they recovered the stolen items and the wood ladder behind a shed at the rear of the A.C. Bouknight Road home.

At the time of Hill’s arrest, deputies found on him one Phillips head screwdriver, one flat head screwdriver, one paint scraper, one fixed-blade knife and one Exacto knife that were capable of being used to pry open a rear door at the A.C. Bouknight Road home, deputies say.

Hill was being held on Monday, December 3 at the Lexington County Detention Center on bail totaling $9,630.
