Report: Man caught stealing knives said he was going to give them as Christmas gifts | Crime
The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department arrested an Irmo man for shoplifting, according to sheriff’s deputies.
The report said on Friday officers responded to the Sportsman’s Warehouse located on Piney Grove Road in reference to a shoplifter in custody.
Upon arrival, deputies met with a loss prevention officer who advised deputies that he observed 22-year-old Brandon Chase Stewart pick seven knives off the rack and place them under his jacket, the report stated.
Deputies say Stewart then attempted to enter the restroom where officers believe he was going to take the knives out of the packs and conceal them.
Surveillance video captured Stewart trying to steal the merchandise, according to sheriff’s deputies.
The knives were recovered and returned to the store.
When sheriff’s deputies questioned Stewart about the incident he stated that he was trying to steal the knives so he could give them as Christmas gifts, the report stated.
Stewart was arrested and transported to Lexington County Detention Center.
