Deputies: Man arrested after using teen to steal items | Crime
The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Lexington man on charges of shoplifting and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
According to an incident report, officers responded to Walmart located at 1780 South Lake Drive in reference to shoplifting.
Upon arrival, deputies met with the loss prevention officer who stated that he observed 46-year-old Michael Ingle and a 14-year-old place merchandise in a container to deprive the store of the full retail value, the report stated.
Deputies say Ingle and the teen were located in the sporting goods section of the store.
When deputies questioned Ingle, he admitted to taking merchandise and placing it in containers, the report stated.
The report said deputies separated the teen from Ingle and asked him what was going on; the teen advised officers that Ingle planned on giving him some of the items as long as he placed the merchandise in containers.
The total value of the merchandise was $424.61.
Ingle was arrested and transported to Lexington County Detention Center. The teen was released to his parents.
