Couple with key to register steals $640 from Walmart | Crime
The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a larceny that occurred at a Lexington County business on Saturday.
According to an incident report, officers responded to Walmart located in the Red Bank area in reference to a larceny on Sunday.
Upon arrival, deputies met with a loss prevention officer, who stated that two individuals stole $640 from a register Saturday afternoon.
Deputies say surveillance video captured the two suspects.
The report said officers observed the footage and saw a black male and female taking cash out of a register after opening it with a key. According to the report, the female suspect held up a piece of clothing in an attempt to shield the view of others while the male suspect opened the register.
Deputies say the duo made an effort to open several other registers, but was unsuccessful.
The report said Walmart’s loss prevention officer suggested that one of the individuals may be a former employee that had a register key.
Deputies have not released surveillance video.
