Deputies investigate rash of TV thefts from hotel | Crime
The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a rash of TV thefts from a Lexington hotel.
According to an incident report, on Friday, September 28 officers responded to the Ramada Inn located at 1015 South Lake Drive in reference to a larceny.
Upon arrival, deputies met with the owner of the hotel who stated he rented room 220 to a man on Thursday, September 27, according to the report.
Deputies say the next morning when housekeeping arrived to the room, the employee noticed the 32” Sylvania LCD TV had been removed.
According to the owner, the TV was not secured to the dresser.
Deputies have not released the name of the suspect, but believe he lives in North Carolina.
On Saturday, September 29 deputies were dispatched again to the South Lake Drive hotel in reference to stolen TV’s.
Deputies spoke to the owner of the hotel who advised them he saw a guest carry a flat screen TV wrapped in a blanket from room to 222 to a truck, and then drive away. The owner said he tried to stop the man before he left, but was ignored.
Deputies say housekeeping went room to room checking to see if more TV’s had been stolen. The employee discovered two more TV’s missing from rooms 121 and 122, according to the report.
Deputies have not released the names in which the rooms were registered under, but say the TV’s were valued at $500 each.
According to sheriff's deputies, there has been several other reports of TV thefts from the hotel over the past few months.
