Report: Woman dupes store employees after returning stolen items | Crime
Officers cited a Gilbert woman after the say she stole items from a local business and then received a refund, according to sheriff’s deputies.
According to a Lexington County incident report, deputies responded to a larceny call at the Walmart located at 1780 South Lake Drive on June 1.
Upon arrival, deputies met with the store manager who stated that 31-year-old Heather Rish selected items from the women’s section of the store, then took those things to customer service and received a refund on a gift card, the report stated.
Deputies say after Rish received the gift card, she continued to grocery shop. While checking out, Rish was approached by a Loss Prevention officer, who detained her for shoplifting, the report stated.
Rish was issued citations for second-offense shoplifting and trespassing.
