Deputies: 19-year-old assaulted at bar while picking up disabled brother | Crime
A 19-year-old West Columbia woman was assaulted at a bar while picking up her disabled brother, according to sheriff’s deputies.
A Lexington County Sheriff’s Department incident report stated that on May 19, deputies responded to a home on Calvin Court in reference to an assault that occurred between two women.
Upon arrival, deputies noticed the 19-year-old female victim standing in the front yard with visible injuries, the report stated.
The 19-year-old woman told officers that she went to Lucky’s Bar in Lexington County to get her disabled brother because he had been drinking, according to sheriff’s deputies.
The victim added that she was only trying to pick up her brother, when she noticed 28-year-old Crystal McDaniel coming towards her, the report stated.
Deputies say during this time, McDaniel struck the 19-year-old on the head causing swelling to her left temple and blood to surface on her scalp.
While deputies were at the home, the victim’s mother showed them a text message from McDaniel stating “Come to Lucky’s and get some more,” according to sheriff’s deputies.
Officers went to the bar and made contact with McDaniel.
Deputies say when they asked McDaniel to step outside they smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from her.
When asked about the incident, McDaniel told officers “That girl came at me so I swung at her,” the report stated.
McDaniel was arrested on a charge of third-degree assault and battery.
