Deputies: Employee arrested after stealing high quality headphones | Crime
Lexington County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Walmart employee who stole a set of headphones valued at almost $200.
According to an incident report, around 10 p.m., on April 6, 20-year-old Thyron Holmes, an employee with Walmart located on South Lake Drive, removed a set of Beats by Dre headphones valued at $178.88 from the store without paying for them.
Officers say a loss prevention employee, found the empty merchandise box in the claims department on April 7.
After further review, the loss prevention employee discovered that a second shift electronic associate, Holmes, selected the headphones from the shelf and then took the item to the register, where he removed the security tag.
According to the employee, Holmes then went to the restroom located in the rear of the store. The employee observed Holmes exiting the bathroom without the box and his cargo pocket on his pants bulging.
Deputies say when the loss prevention manager interviewed Holmes, he admitted to stealing the headphones and offered to pay for or bring the headphones back in order to keep his job.
When the manager told Holmes he would be terminated regardless, Holmes declined a statement.
Holmes was terminated and the headphones were never recovered.
Holmes was later arrested on a charge of breach of trust with fraudulent intent in connection with a theft.
