Deputies arrested a Lexington County man they say worked for an security company and robbed a customer while installing an alarm system.
According to a Lexington County Sheriff’s Department incident report, 26-year-old William Lambert Platt, an employee with Carolina Security & Wiring located in Greenville, was arrested in connection with larceny on April 13.
Deputies say on February 1, Platt and a co-worker were installing an alarm system at a home located on Winstaire Drive.
The homeowner told officers that she observed Platt coming from the master bedroom of the home with his hands in his pocket. At the time, the homeowner said she didn’t think much about it, until later that day when she discovered two of her necklaces missing from a jewelry box located inside the room.
The homeowner contacted the owner of the security company and advised him of the situation. At first, the company owner told the victim that his employees would not steal from anyone and blamed it on the moving crew. The homeowners told the company owner they never hired a moving crew.
On April 10, the victim noticed that four more necklaces were missing from the jewelry box and contacted the company again, advising them of the missing jewelry.
The owner of the company told the victim that he received a complaint from another customer where jewelry came up missing. According to the owner of the company, Platt was also assigned to that job.
Platt was arrested and charged with larceny.
