LCSD to participate in community resource fair

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department resident deputies will participate in a community resource fair between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Friday, April 12 at the Phillips Center at the South Carolina Farmers Market, 3483 Charleston Highway, West Columbia. The goal of the event is to help citizens in the Dixiana and Gaston communities find jobs, prepare income tax returns and learn about health-care and other services that would improve citizens’ quality of life.

LCSD to offer personal safety class

the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department will conduct a personal safety class that is designed specifically for females ages 11 and older. The class will be held between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 25 at the Lexington County James R. Metts Law Enforcement Complex, 521 Gibson Road, Lexington. The class will be provided free of charge.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts encourages women and teen-age girls, who are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, to attend the personal safety class. Participants should wear casual clothes for the class.

Accepting donations for the Support Our Troops drive

Accepting donations for the Support Our Troops drive

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department in partnership with School District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties is accepting donations of bottled water, sports drinks and single-serving snacks that the Sheriff’s Department will deliver to the USO for distribution to members of the United States armed forces while they are at Columbia Metropolitan Airport. Donations will be accepted through Monday, April 22.

Woodmen of the World to present Life Saving Award to 4 officers

Woodmen of the World will present the organization’s Life Saving Award to four Lexington County Detention Center correctional officers, one Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputy and one former Detention Center correctional officer during an awards banquet that will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9 at the organization’s office, 3620 Augusta Road, West Columbia.
