Vote for the best!

Vote for the best!
Between July 11th and August 7th, we are asking you to take a second (today or once a day) and vote for the favorites in your community. All you had to do is choose your community, write in your nominations and submit. Yep, that easy. You’ll vote for these categories: Eat, Drink and Be Merry, It’s All About the Art and Entertainment, Shop ‘Til You Drop, Look and Feel Your Best, It Is Your Business and Pet Projects plus we might ask a little about you.

Don’t worry, we won’t spam you. Your votes are all confidential unless you check that little opt-in box and then you may receive some awesome emails from us after this promotion ends.

More small details: You were welcome to enter votes for multiple communities as we know we all have favorites in other places but you can just vote once per day. Now that you have the voting thing down, don’t forget to vote in this year’s November election.

Feed the hungry without leaving your home

The National Association of Letter Carriers and U.S. Postal Service “Stamp Out Hunger” Food Drive is coming to your home on Saturday, May 14.

This is one of the easiest food drives to participate in! Just gather any non-perishable food items you might have in a bag and leave it at your mailbox.

And that’s it! Your donation will be delivered to a local food bank in need.

“May 14 is the one day in the year when letter carriers take control of the conversation about hunger in America, making a loud-and-clear case for providing a chance for millions of families, and millions of children, to have a hunger-free summer,” said National Association of Letter Carriers President Fredric V. Rolando. “Our hard work and sacrifice will not go unnoticed, I assure you.”

Check out the video above to learn about the history of this food drive and learn more at the National Association of Letter Carriers website.

Over $500,000 raised so far for Japan disaster relief

The need is still there. You keep responding.

Fisher Communications has been teaming up with the American Red Cross and Uwajimaya to raise money to help the victims of the massive earthquake and tsunami in Japan. So far, the response has been fantastic!

As of Friday afternoon, we’ve been able to raise $500,104 for relief efforts. That's in just three days. That is a massive number, and we thank you.

But you can still donate. You can go online through KOMONews.com or text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 contribution.

Again, thank you for your donations.

Give a teddy bear, help a child

Give a teddy bear, help a child

From now until the end of March, Bartell Drugs is collecting teddy bears to give to children in stressful situations.

The Teddy Bear Patrol campaign has already raised 65,000 stuffed animals, and Bartell officials hope this March will be the most successful month yet.

Once the bears are donated, they’ll be given to police officers, hospital workers and emergency response crews, who will then give the bears to children dealing with stressful situations.

A number of donation options are available at all 59 Bartell stores in King, Snohomish and Pierce counties, including:

  • Purchase the Bartell Teddy Bear for $7.00 and Bartell Drugs will donate a second bear to the campaign
  • Make a monetary donation towards the purchase of a bear
  • Donate a new or gently used bear, under 12”

Do you deserve an extreme home makeover?

Do you deserve an extreme home makeover?

Do you know a family whose home deserves an Extreme Home Makeover? The producers of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition are looking for a Washington family to build a new home for.

“We are looking for the deserving people and inspiring families that America can really root for,” says Supervising Casting Producer Adam Drucker.

What does it take to be picked for an Extreme Makeover?

"We're looking for those special people who have amazing strength of character and never give up. Whether it’s keeping their chin up in really tough circumstances or going out of their way to help others. We want to help people whose stories have really affected their community or made a big difference in other people's lives.”
