LCSD to host Torch Run to benefit Special Olympics | Community Spirit
Officers with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department and other law enforcement agencies will participate in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for South Carolina Special Olympics at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 3.
All proceeds from the Law Enforcement Torch Run will benefit South Carolina Special Olympics.
Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said law enforcement officers will make the eight-mile Law Enforcement Torch Run from the South Carolina State Farmers Market, 3483 Charleston Highway, West Columbia, to the South Carolina State House in Columbia, where the Flame of Hope will be presented to a representative for athletes who will compete at the South Carolina Special Olympics Games. Sgt. Lee Barrett will coordinate the participation of the Sheriff’s Department in the Law Enforcement Torch Run, Metts said.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run reflects the Sheriff’s Department mission of providing professional law enforcement services that enhance the quality of life for all people living in Lexington County.
