LCSD donates 72 units of blood to Red Cross | Community Spirit

Lexington County Sheriff’s Department employees and citizens donated 72 units of blood to the South Carolina chapter of the American Red Cross during a blood drive that the Sheriff’s Department conducted in partnership with the American Red Cross on Tuesday, January 15 at the Lexington County James R. Metts Law Enforcement Complex, 521 Gibson Road, Lexington.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts thanked the Sheriff’s Department employees and citizens who donated blood during the blood drive. The Sheriff’s Department regularly conducts blood drives in partnership with the South Carolina chapter of the American Red Cross.

Evidence Clerk Beth Holliman and Master Deputy Chris Lee coordinated the participation of the Sheriff’s Department in the blood drive, Metts said. The sheriff encourages citizens to continue to give blood to the American Red Cross.

“The American Red Cross is in need of your help,” Metts said. “Patients are depending on you to roll up your sleeves and make an appointment to give blood.”

Since 2006, blood drives that the Sheriff’s Department conducted resulted in the donation of 1,175 units of blood to the American Red Cross, Metts said. The blood drive reflects the Sheriff’s Department mission of providing professional law enforcement services that enhance the quality of life for all people in Lexington County.
