The Next Historic Columbia Foundation's "Second Sunday Strolls" Set For September 9

Historic Columbia Foundation’s “Second Sunday Strolls” monthly walking tours will continue on Sunday, September 9th. The tour will take place at 2 pm. in Columbia’s Robert Mills District West. The tour will meet at the Mann-Simons Site which is located at 1403 Richland Street in Columbia.

Columbia’s Robert Mills District West is named after the nation’s first federal architect who designed the circa-1823 Robert Mills House and the circa-1828 Asylum. Today’s Robert Mills District was listed in 1971 within the National Register of Historic Places as “Columbia Historic District II.” Bound to the west by Sumter Street, the north by Calhoun Street, the east by Barnwell Street and the South by Taylor Street, the district contains approximately 113 historic structures, including the Mann-Simons Site, the Ehrlich House, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and many others. The buildings embody more than three centuries of diverse residential and institutional architecture.

The tour is free for Historic Columbia Foundation members and is $6 for a non-member adult ticket and $3 for a non-member youth (17 and under) ticket. Tickets can be purchased by calling 803.252.1770 ext. 24 or by email at reservations@historiccolumbia.org. Walk-up registrations are also accepted.
