On March 24, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department and Chapin Police Department will conduct an Easter egg hunt for children ages 12 and younger in the Chapin community. The event will be conducted between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. at the Chapin Christian Counseling Center, 211 East Boundary Street, Chapin.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts and Chapin Police Chief Troy Crump said parents should accompany their children to the Easter egg hunt. Each participant is asked to bring one non-perishable food item, which will be donated to the We Care Center in Chapin.

The event will include face painting, games, door prizes and a guest appearance by the Easter Bunny, Metts and Crump said. Cheerleaders from Chapin High School and the mascot for Chapin High athletic teams also will participate in the event.

Sheriff’s Department Explorers Post cadets will prepare fingerprint identification cards for children who are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, Metts and Crump said. Law enforcement officers can use fingerprint identification cards to quickly identify children.

Citizens who would like additional information about the Easter Egg Hunt can contact Sheriff’s Department Sgt. David Amick at (803) 223-3778, Metts and Crump said. Amick supervises deputies who are assigned to the Chapin Patrol District.
