The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department in partnership with Lexington County School District One will conduct the Socks to Sole Drive between Monday, December 3 and Monday, December 17 in order to collect new, unwrapped socks for donation to children who have cancer and are undergoing medical treatment at Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts encourages citizens to donate children’s socks at Gilbert Elementary School, 314 Main Street, Gilbert; Gilbert Primary School, 520 Main Street, Gilbert; and Gilbert Middle School, 120 Rikard Circle, Gilbert. Children who are undergoing medical treatment for cancer often experience cold feet and socks help keep children’s feet warm.

School Resource Officer Matt Rogers, who works full-time at Gilbert Middle School, is coordinating the participation of the Sheriff’s Department in the Socks to Sole Drive, Metts said. Citizens who would like additional information about the Socks to Sole Drive can contact Rogers at his office at (803) 821-1728 or on his cell phone at (803) 231-8563.

The Socks to Sole Drive reflects the Sheriff’s Department mission of providing professional law enforcement services that enhance the quality of life for all people in Lexington County, Metts said.
